Addaction Barnsley Harm Reduction Services

Barnsley Harm Reduction Service provides Tier 2 open access services across the borough of Barnsley to those over 18, in order to reduce the harm caused to drug and alcohol users, their families and their communities.  Services include:

• Needle and Syringe Programme at central premises, local pharmacies and mobile needle exchange
• Information, support and Harm reduction advice
• Brief Interventions for drug and alcohol users on a one to one or group work basis
• BBV Screening and vaccination
• Supported access to general healthcare services
• Supported access to treatment for substance misuse
• Advice information and support to concerned others

BADAS (Barnsley drugs and alcohol service)

This is a free and confidential service for people over 18 who are concerned about their own or others' drug and alcohol use.

Young Addaction Barnsley is a drug and alcohol service for young people under 18 who live in Barnsley.  The service provides an individual package of support based upon the assessed needs of the young person.  Young Addaction provides a service to generic clients and clients who are part of the youth offending service.

Also, Young Addaction Barnsley is able to provide the following services through a number of trained, skilled workers across the borough:

• Information and Advice
• Support
• Harm reduction
• Brief interventions
• Motivational interviewing
• Relapse prevention
• Referral to other agencies if necessary
• Joint work with other agencies
• Assessment
• Complex Case Management
• Support
• Coordination of community detoxification, maintenance/ stabilisation
• Referral to inpatient treatment.
• Intensive support to young people who are in crisis and/or are complex
• Rapid access to treatment
• Complementary therapies
• Health assessment and BBV screening and vaccination
• Support to other professionals

Young Addaction Barnsley supports young people who are affected by a parent or carer's drug and/or alcohol use, this can be provided on an individual or group basis.

We are also able to offer support to parents who are struggling to cope with there child's drug and/or alcohol use, and who may require support to establish relationships, form boundaries and to gain a clearer understanding of the effects of drug and/or alcohol use.

Young Addaction also provides and Integrated Resettlement Service within Barnsley Youth Offending team, working with those young people who have received both custodial and community sentences to ensure that they are supported and enabled to integrate within their own communities.
